Cameron comes from a wealthy family of four children and his three siblings are named Donnell, Brian, and Laura.
He was born on 11 June 1961 to Newton and Marjorie Cameron in Victoria, the British Columbia province of Canada, and will be 61 on his birthday in 2022.
In 1983, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Stanford University before proceeding to the London School of Economics for post-graduate studies.
He returned to Canada to start his career, and his first job was as a management consultant at a Canadian consultant company in Toronto.
Cameron had his first broadcast job when he became a TV producer at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
In 1997, Cameron left CBC and joined ABC News, a news service under the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
He also worked as a Washington Senior Producer for “World News Tonight” and was nominated for two Emmy Awards.
He was promoted to executive producer of ABC’s “This Week” and served alongside George Stephanopoulos before rebranding the show with a more international flavour under Christiane Amanpour.
In 1992, he married the Director of the United States Domestic Policy Council Susan Rice and they share two children; John ‘Jake’ Rice-Cameron (son) and Maris Rice-Cameron (daughter).
In 2010, he announced that he is stepping down from serving as executive producer of the program after two years between 2008 and 2010. He has run other private businesses since then.
